Pekarík one step closer to EURO qualification

Peter Pekarík and Andreas Bouchalakis were both in action for their respective nations on Monday evening. Pekarík was part of the Slovakian starting XI that claimed all three points in a 1-0 away victory in Luxembourg. The win takes Slovakia one step closer to EURO 2024 qualification – they sit in second place of Group J, five points ahead of third-placed Luxembourg. 

Bouchalakis came on in the 60th minute in Greece’s 1-0 home defeat to the Netherlands, which meant that the Oranje leapfrogged Greece into second in the Group B standings. Qualification is now out of Boucha and Co.’s hands going into their final group match against table-toppers France on 21st November (20:45 CET). 

Smail Prevljak did not feature in Bosnia-Herzegovina’s 5-0 loss to Portugal and Tjark Ernst also did not play for Germany U20s in their 4-2 win over Czechia. 

Four Hertha players in action on Tuesday 

Anderson Lucoqui will contest a friendly for Angola against DR Congo on Tuesday evening, while Tim Goller and Pascal Klemens face Poland in a EURO qualifier with the Germany U19s. A draw would be enough to guarantee Christian Wörns’ side first place in Group D. Gustav Christensen is also part of the Denmark U21 team that will play Czechia in a EURO qualifier at 18:00 CEST.
