Hertha BSC sign Michał Karbownik
Michał Karbownik has joined Hertha BSC with immediate effect from Brighton & Hove Albion. “Michał is a versatile player and has proven his quality as both a left-back and a midfielder. He knows the league and has already played for Poland,” said sporting director Benjamin Weber. “Hertha put a lot of effort in to sign me and it was therefore an easy decision for me to make to come here. I want to help the team as soon as possible and develop as a player and a person here,” commented Hertha’s new number 6, who has signed until 2026.
Karbownik began his journey into professional football at Legia Warsaw. Following his impressive performances in youth football, the former junior international player proved himself worthy of playing at a higher level. He made his Ekstraklasa debut at just 18 years old and played a total of 36 league and seven cup games for his hometown club, in addition to four games in Europe. In October 2020, Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion signed the versatile left-back, who made his debut for the senior national team (4 caps) in the same month. This was followed by loan spells with Olympiacos in Greece and Fortuna Düsseldorf last season, for whom he played 26 times for, scored one goal and recorded five assists.
