Marco Richter joins 1. FSV Mainz 05

Marco Richter has completed a move to 1. FSV Mainz 05 with immediate effect. “The opportunity arose for Marco to play Bundesliga football again. He wanted to accept it and we were able to find a fair solution in the end. We would like to thank Marco for his tireless efforts at Hertha BSC and wish him all the best, both personally and professionally,” said sporting director Benjamin Weber. “The last two years have been eventful. I always enjoyed representing Hertha and playing in front of the fans, which is why our relegation is still a painful topic to me. I sincerely hope that Hertha are able to find their way back up soon,” Richter said.

The former Germany U21 international joined the Old Lady in August 2021 from FC Augsburg. He scored 11 goals in 59 Bundesliga games and provided seven assists. Richter also netted three goals in three DFB-Pokal matches for Hertha, as well as featuring in both relegation play-off games in 2022/23.
