Smail Prevljak signs for Hertha
28-year-old centre forward Smail Prevljak has joined Hertha BSC on a free transfer from KAS Eupen, signing a deal in the capital until 2025. “Smail is an important building block in our team and we’re looking forward to seeing him in action,” said sporting director Benjamin Weber, adding: “He is a technically strong player, who has proven his goalscoring abilities at his previous clubs and for the Bosnia-Herzegovina national team.” Prevljak himself is looking forward to a new challenge with the Blue-Whites: “The club were very keen to sign me and I had a good feeling from our talks. I’m excited about the club, the city, meeting my new teammates and of course seeing the fans at the Olympiastadion.”
Proven goalscorer with international experience
Smail Prevljak spent the last three and a half years at KAS Eupen in the Belgian Pro League, picking up 42 goals and eleven assists in 99 games. He had previously demonstrated his eye for goal at Austrian side SV Mattersburg in the 2017/18 season, netting 18 times in 36 appearances. The Bosnia-Herzegovina international, who has won 25 caps and scored six goals for his country since 2018, came through at RB Leipzig, also having further spells in Austria with FC Liefering and Red Bull Salzburg.
