Ascacíbar and Alderete leave Hertha BSC
Following confirmation of the club’s relegation from the Bundesliga, the first personnel decisions have also been made, with Santiago Ascacíbar and Omar Alderete, who have both been out on-loan this season, now moving to Estudiantes de La Plata and Getafe CF permanently. Both of these deals have been completed for undisclosed fees. “We thank both of them for the efforts for Hertha BSC and wish them well,” said Benjamin Weber, before continuing, “In the coming weeks and months, it is our task to put together the best squad possible taking all factors into account.”
Ascacíbar joined the Old Lady in January 2020 and played a total of 53 competitive games in a Hertha shirt. After one and a half seasons, the 26-year-old spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on-loan at Italian club US Cremonese, before returning to his homeland. The midfielder had played in Germany from 2017 with VfB Stuttgart before moving to the capital. Alderete joined Hertha in October 2020 and played 17 games in blue and white. In the summer of 2021, the Paraguayan joined Valencia CF on-loan, before making another loan move, this time to Getafe, just over twelve months later.
