On the right track
Shortly before the start of the training session at Schenckendorffplatz, the boys picked up unusual equipment for the first session: A yellow pole! The players used these to stretch, to the left, to the right. After that, the squad ran some laps of the pitch at a high tempo, with the fresh breeze at the Olympiapark spurring them on. The message was clear, that despite the defeat in Dortmund they were running with the wind behind them, rather than directly into the wind. “Obviously, the result was annoying for us but we there are also some positives from the game that we can take with us – and that’s exactly what we will build on now as we prepare for Augsburg,” said Marco Richter, sketching out the direction for the next week.
Pair back in team training, trio working individually
After carrying out the warm-up, the coaching staff laid out exercises with the ball for the 60 minute long session. After some passing exercises, Schwarz and his team laid out a small game with small goals. “Well done, lads,” said the head coach, praising his players as the ball was pinged along the floor, according to the coach’s wishes. “I like that!” said Schwarz, with the players following his instructions. Sporting director Benjamin Weber and head of team management Sami Allagui also took in the work taking place on the pitch. Two players who joined them were Peter Pekarík and Stevan Jovetić, who took part in the whole training session with their teammates. Kélian Nsona and Chidera Ejuke (in light training) were still absent, however, as were birthday boy Wilfried Kanga, Filip Uremović and Suat Serdar (load management), who were all working individually.
Keep working hard: Second home win in a row the aim
There are still further training sessions for the Blue-Whites up until the weekend which will take place behind closed doors, so the team can work further on the intended tactics. Hopefully the content worked on should lead to a second home win a row against FC Augsburg on Saturday (25.02.23, 15:30 CET). The boys are already on the right track for this after Tuesday’s session!
