Eight Hertha players called up for international duty

On the 14th November, Bundesliga football will grind to a temporary halt. There will be no action in the German top flight, as well as other international leagues, due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. There are still eight matchdays to go until then, and one more international break, the last before the world cup – in which eight Herthaner are involved..

Four players going for points in the UEFA Nations League

After earning his first international cap so far in November 2020, goalkeeper Oliver Christensen will have the opportunity to get some more minutes in a Danish jersey in the upcoming break. Head coach Kasper Hjulmand's team will face Croatia (Thu., 22.09.22, 20:45, in Zagreb) and France (Sun., 25.09.22, 20:45, in Copenhagen) in the UEFA Nations League. After four matchdays, the Danes are in first place in League A, Group 1 with nine points. Dodi Lukébakio, Peter Pekarík and Stevan Jovetić are also going for points in this competition. Our number 14 and his Belgian side take on Wales (Thu., 22.09.22, 20:45, in Brussels) and the Netherlands (Sun., 25.09.22, 20:45, in Amsterdam) and are second in League A, Group 4 after four games.

Meanwhile, Peka and Slovakia face Azerbaijan (Thu., 22.09.22, 20:45, in Trnava) and Belarus (Sun., 25.09.22, 20:45, in Backa Topola), while Jove's Montenegrins take on Bosnia (Fri., 23.09.22, 20:45, in Zenica) and Finland (Mon., 26.09.22, 20:45, in Podgorica). Both teams are in second place in their respective groups, and still have hopes of promotion to the next league up for when the competition takes place again in 2024/25.

New arrivals called up for friendlies

Those aren’t the only Hertha players heading on international duty, though. Another trio - made up of our new summer arrivals - are playing international friendlies. Defender Agustín Rogel and his Uruguayan team will first face Iran (Fri., 23.09.22, 18:00, in Vienna), before taking on Canada (Tue., 27.09.22, 18:00). Offensive duo Wilfried Kanga and Chidera Ejuke are also on the road: While our number 18 faces Togo (Sat., 24.09.22, 18:00, in Rouen) and Guinea (Tue., 27.09.22, 20:00, in Havre) for two games in France with the Ivory Coast, Ejuke heads to Algeria with Nigeria (Tue., 27.09.22, 21:00, in Bir El Djir).

Dárdai on duty with the German U21s

Defender Márton Dárdai will be wearing the famous eagle crest on his chest, as our defender links up the DFB’s U21s for a pair of friendlies against France (Fri., 23.09.22, 18:15, in Magdeburg) and against England (Tue., 27.09.22, 20:45, in Sheffield).
