Jurgen Ekkelenkamp leaves Hertha BSC
Midfielder Jurgen Ekkelenkamp has left Hertha BSC and joined Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Royal Antwerp FC. The two sides were able to complete the deal on Sunday. “This transfer is a good solution for all parties. We thank Jurgen for his efforts during the past season and wish him all the best for his future on and off the pitch,” said board member for sport Fredi Bobic.
The Netherlands U21 international joined Hertha last summer from AFC Ajax, going on to make 22 appearances in the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal and scoring three goals. Hertha fans will fondly remember the 22-year-old’s first goal for the club, when he found the back of the net with a header just 60 seconds into his debut after coming off the bench. Ekkelenkamp also played a part in the winning goal later in the game.
