"We tried everything"

Groundhog Day for Hertha? Like in Mönchengladbach, the Blue-White put in a courageous performance against Borussia Dortmund. Also like in Mönchengladbach, it was Hertha’s opponents who came away with the three points. It is another setback that has not disheartened the team though, as was explained after the game. “We tried everything but nothing came off. We just have to stay positive and keep working. The season is still long and we have clearly made definite steps forward,” explained Dodi Lukébakio, who was lively once again. Marco Richter, who appeared on the pitch for the first time since his diagnosis for testicular cancer, and hit the bar in the latter stages, added: “For me personally, it was an unbelievably good feeling to finally get on the pitch again. But, I would have rather picked up points.” herthabsc.com has the immediate reaction to the second home game of the season.

Dodi Lukébakio: We played against a top team who we sometimes gave too much space. But, we also had good chances. We tried everything but nothing came off. I hope that we can do better in the next game. We just have to stay positive and keep working. The season is still long and we have clearly made definite steps forward.

Marco Richter: For me personally, it was an unbelievably good feeling to finally get on the pitch again and to go to the fans in the Kurve after the game. But, I would have rather picked up points. Borussia Dortmund didn’t manage to kill the game off and it stayed 1-0 for a long time. We were able to keep creating chances throughout and the changes brought us new impetus up-front. It was a shame that my shot which hit the crossbar didn’t go in, that obviously would have been the ideal comeback. The team tried everything, but it is now about putting it behind us and focussing on the next game in Augsburg. It is only a question of time before we get the three points that we deserve.

Jonjoe Kenny: We competed well but in football it is about winning. That’s why we play, it’s as easy as that. We have to try everything that we can to win our next game in Augsburg!
