Jordan Torunarigha leaves Hertha BSC
Since 2006, Jordan Torunarigha has played for Hertha BSC, growing from a young talent to an established Bundesliga player in for the Blue-Whites. Now, after 16 years, the defender’s time in Berlin is at an end as he embarks on a new journey. Torunarigha has joined Belgian Pro League side KAA Gent on a permanent deal with immediate effect – he was on loan at the club for the second half of the 2021/22 campaign. “We would like to offer our sincere thanks to Jordan for his long service with Hertha BSC. He came through the club’s academy to the first team and has gained lots of experience here. With this move to Gent, a new chapter in his career has begun, and we wish him nothing but the best for the future,” said sporting director Fredi Bobic on Tuesday.
81 appearances for Hertha – Olympian with Germany
Chemnitz-born Torunarigha moved to the German capital aged just nine, coming through the age groups in our youth academy before signing his first professional contract in 2016 and stepping up to the first team. The defender has made a total of 81 appearances for the Blue-Whites in all competitions, scoring six goals and creating five more. “Jordany” has also been recognised for his performances by the DFB, playing a total of 30 times for various Germany youth national teams, including appearances at the 2017 U20 World Cup and the Olympic Games in Tokyo last summer.
