Our squad for England!
It’s the halfway point in pre-season. It’s exactly 20 days since the Hertha players returned for performance tests and the first game of the season, in the first round of the DFB-Pokal at Eintracht Braunschweig (31st July, 18:00 CEST), is in exactly 20 days too. With one training camp and three friendlies (7-1 against TuS Makkabi, 1-0 against SV Babelsberg 03 and 5-1 against FC Energie Cottbus) already completed, the second half of pre-season can now get underway. As part of this, the Hertha squad will travel to England for a 12-day training camp at St. George’s Park in Burton upon Trent on Tuesday (12/7/22).
Three friendlies
As well as a number of training sessions, our players have three interesting friendlies scheduled. The first is against Derby County on Saturday, 16th July at Pride Park (17:00 CEST). That is followed by matches against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, 20th July (20:00 CEST at the Pirellli Stadium) and West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, 23rd July (16:00 CEST at the Hawthorns).
Four goalkeepers, four youngsters
Sandro Schwarz will take 34 players with him to England. That group includes four goalkeepers (Oliver Christensen, Rune Jarstein, Tjark Ernst and Robert Kwasigroch) and four players from our academy (Julian Eitschberger, Lukas Ullrich, Derry Scherhant and Luca Wollschläger). As well as Ernst, new signings Filip Uremović, Jonjoe Kenny and Ivan Šunjić will travel to the UK. Omar Alderete, Kélian Nsona, Javairô Dilrosun, Jessic Ngankam, Mesut Kesik and Marten Winkler will not be part of the group.
