Jonjoe Kenny signs for Hertha BSC!
Right-back Jonjoe Kenny has joined Hertha BSC on a free transfer from Everton, signing a contract valid until 2025. “Jonjoe is a player that will bring some fresh impetus and pace into our game. He’s gained experience in both the Premier League and the Bundesliga, plus he still has the potential to develop further aged just 25. We could sense how excited he was to join Hertha BSC during our discussions,” stated Fredi Bobic. The Englishman is raring to go: “The club made it clear how much they wanted me. I’m pleased to be here. I’m looking forward to playing for this club, seeing the fans and moving to this city,” said the former England U21 international.
Kenny spent 2019/20 on loan at FC Schalke 04, scoring two goals and recording three assists in 31 league games. The Liverpool-born defender came through Everton’s academy and made his Premier League debut aged 19 back in 2016. He also had loan spells at Wigan Athletic (2015), Oxford United (2016) and Celtic (2021) – he made 16 starts for the Scottish giants between February and May 2021. Kenny became a European champion with England U17s in 2014 and won the U20 World Cup in 2017. He was also part of the Everton side to win the Premier League 2 on two occasions (2017, 2019). Kenny played 69 times in all competitions for the Toffees, including three matches in the UEFA Europa League.
