Arne Maier joins FC Augsburg permanently
Arne Maier will officially stay at FC Augsburg beyond the summer. The midfielder’s loan spell at the Bavarian club has been made permanent after FCA triggered a clause agreed between the two clubs last year. “We would like to thank Arne Maier for his time at Hertha and wish him all the best in the future,” said Fredi Bobic.
Maier entered the Hertha youth academy in 2007 and quickly demonstrated his talent. The Ludwigsfeld-born midfielder also represented Germany at youth level from the U15s upwards, going on to captain their European U21 Championship winning side in 2021. Maier also won the Germany U19 Bundesliga with Hertha in 2018 while he was breaking into the Berliners’ first team. The now 23-year-old went on to make 57 Bundesliga, three Europa League and five DFB-Pokal appearances for Hertha ahead of his loan spells at Arminia Bielefeld in 2020/21 and now Augsburg this season.
