Hertha’s winter schedule
The winter break offers a brief chance for the players to switch off and charge their batteries for the second half of the season, which comes around quicker than usual courtesy of next year’s winter World Cup in Qatar. After 40 games in 2021, new challenges await Hertha in the new year. It all starts on the 9th January (15:30 CET), when the team will look to get off to a good start in 2022 against 1. FC Köln.
Head coach Tayfun Korkut has asked the squad to return for training at Schenckendorffplatz on the 29th December to prepare for the opening of the second half of the season. After the win over Dortmund and enjoying breakfast together the following day, Dedryck Boyata and co. had eight days to themselves - in theory at least, as this time was definitely not be spent in total relaxation. “We have given every player an individual training plan so that we can get right back into it on day one of training,” explain Korkut, looking ahead to returning to work ahead of the new year: “Those days of training are very important for us to get across our ideas and our approach more intensively. From my experience, the players love getting back on the ball after a few days off too.”
