Ending training camp with a win
For the final friendly of the training camp in Brandenburg, Pál Dárdai handed starts to Javairô Dilrosun and Dennis Jastrzembski, who didn’t feature in the 16-0 win over SV Schwarz-Rot Neustadt.
Hertha quickly gained control of the game in the Volksparkstadion, although they had to wait a while for their first chances. Prince Boateng (17’) and Suat Serdar (22’) both tested out Neuruppin goalkeeper Vaizov. The third attempt, though, resulted in the opening goal. Jastrzembski found Davie Selke in the box and he beat Vaizov to make it 1-0 (26’). Two minutes later, an MSV defender cleared a Jastrzembski effort off the line, before Dilrosun cleared the bar from close range (30’). The combination for the first goal then combined again for the second, with our number 7 converting from a ‘DJ’ delivery on the stroke of half time for the second time of the afternoon (44’).
Dárdai makes wholesale changes - strunning strikes and confusion about Körber
Just like against Neustadt, coach Dárdai made ten changes at half-time, only keeping goalkeeper Marcel Lotka only the pitch. It didn't take long for Hertha to add to the scoreline, as Ruwen Werthmüller won the ball from the MSV keeper and set up Anton Kade to make it 3-0 (51'). Kade nearly added another in the 58th minute, but saw his shot saved. Dodi Lukébakio then netted a slick chip shot to get Hertha's fourth goal of the day (60'). In the 77th minute, Jhon Córdoba headed home a cross from Maximilian Mittelstädt before going on to net a second just two minutes later. Lukébakio would also net a brace, scoring in the 89th minute to bring the score to 7-0. In addition to the stunning goals being scored on the pitch, there was also time for a quick laugh off it, as the stadium announcer mistakenly annouced that Nils Körber was being subbed on. The goalkeeper laughed off the mistake from the stands. The game ended in a 7-0 win for our Herthaner, who were able to celebrate a successful end to training camp.
