“These three points are ours”
The games keep coming thick and fast in the season run-in. Less than 72 hours after the impressive home win over SC Freiburg, the next crunch match in the battle against relegation awaits on Sunday (09.05.21 ,18:00 CEST). The Blue-Whites will be looking to kick on against DSC Arminia Bielefeld and keep up the good spirits in the camp. “We’re obviously feeling positive after the performance against SCF. The way the bench celebrated was Ostkurve worthy,” joked Pál Dárdai, who was quick to turn the focus to this weekend’s fixture: “We need to carry on in the same vein, as I believe that we will need at least two more wins.”
The goal is very much to pick up the first of those against Bielefeld, although the boss still has much respect for tomorrow’s opponents. “Arminia are a strong unit – you get a real sense of team spirit. We will come up against a good and well-disciplined side,” insisted Dárdai, before underlining his team’s aim: “It’s a final and we are determined to win it – these three points are ours.” Arne Friedrich also spoke of good vibes following a successful return to Bundesliga action, but he too demanded focus. “Our situation has improved, but the danger is not over. We will continue to stay focused and humble, but we’re happy with the way the team has developed and want to keep at it,” explained the sporting director.
