Hertha BSC in quarantine
A further positive Covid-19 test means our team and coaching staff have to go into a 14-day quarantine with immediate effect. Marvin Plattenhardt tested positive in the round of PCR tests on Thursday. He is symptom-free and was immediately separated from the group.
After the positive tests of head coach Pál Dárdai, assistant Admir Hamzagić and attacker Dodi Lukébakio, it was agreed that the team, coaching staff and those in close contact would immediately begin a 14-day isolation period. These stricter measures were then recommended by the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf health authority, the relevant body for the club.
As a result, the club has had to make a request to the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) for the postponement of our matches against 1. FSV Mainz 05, SC Freiburg and FC Schalke 04, "After discussions with our health authorities, we had already intensified our hygiene precautions during the last international break, in the hope that Rune Jarstein’s positive corona test remained an isolated case. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case," said sporting director Arne Friedrich, adding. "As a result of the further cases, we are forced to go into a 14-day quarantine. From a health perspective, that is absolutely the right step. From a sporting perspective, it affects us in our relegation battle, as we will now have to play six Bundesliga matches in May before the season ends on the 22nd. The team will keep themselves fit during quarantine with virtual training sessions led by the coaching team. Despite the difficult circumstances, we accept the situation and will do everything in our power to end the season successfully."
